Salina, what are her Dr.'s saying, do they know what is causing this? I know nothing of type 1 diabetes, is this something that is common with this disease?
At work, we pack the person in ice. First get Medow pretty much naked, in her bed, put a trash bag, then get ice bags...put them under her back, under her arm pits, on her chest, crotch area, under knee's, under heels, ... pretty much cover her. Swtich out the icebags every 20 minutes. (You dont want the skin to get cold, red and hard)
Also put a cold washcloth over her face, it will dry out quick. I hope you guys got my voice mail message. I will call you after 7pm...
no- the diabetes is experiencing complications from the sickness but they dont think its from the diabetes. They think possibly viral, maybe Strep. She has an appt in the morning. The Dr's say that we are doing everything we can, but that her fever should be gone by now.
Okay, I talked with the icu peep's. Its signs of an infection ( yes, we already knew that) it might not be related to her diabetes. Id take her into the ER. If not mine, valley general.
I forgot to mention, don't panic if you don't have ice, put her in a cool bath with a cool wash rag on her head, this also works to bring fevers down, this worked for my baby grandson recently who also ran a 104 temp.
I gave her a bath, and it seemed to help, I gave her iced tea too.. I talked to Group Health and they said As long as she doesnt get worse, Like lose consciousness or temp not go down then we dont have to take her tonight. Her appt. is 9:50 am.
